Elizabeth Resnick, one of the three curators of the popular exhibition"The Graphic Imperative," will be offering a public lecture presenting a slide talk focusing on the philosophy behind the organization of "The Graphic Imperative" that also encourages and empowers young designers and design students to create meaningful work.
Following the lecture, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the gallery and participant in a question & answer session with Ms. Resnick.
Elizabeth Resnick is an Associate Professor and the Chair of the Communication Design Department at the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, Massachusetts. She holds a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. Elizabeth served on the Board of Directors of the AIGA Boston chapter from 1989-2005. During that time, she organized numerous graphic design lectures and events. She is a design curator who has organized three large exhibitions: "Russell Mills: Within/Without" (1991) with Teresa Flavin; "Dutch Graphic Design: 1918-1945" (1994) with Alston W. Purvis; and "Makato Saito: Art of the Poster" (1999) with Jan Kubasiewicz. She has published two books; Design for Communication: Conceptual Graphic Design Basics (Wiley, 2003), Graphic Design: A Problem-Solving Approach to Visual Communication (Prentice-Hall, 1984), and has written short critical commentaries, event review, and interviews with prominent designers and design educators that were published it the "EYE" (UK), "AIGA Journal of Graphic Design" (U.S.), "Graphics International" (UK), "tipoGrafica" (Argentina) and "IDEA" (Japan).
