Japanese textiles have a long and varied history of surface design. One of the most interesting is shibori, a method of twisting and tying tiny circles or other shapes into the fabric before dyeing it. In this workshop we will experiment with shibori-style dyeing to create a scarf or wall hanging. For those who attended the shibori dyeing workshop last summer, we will continue to explore the traditional methods of kanoko (bound), nui (stitched), kumo (spider pattern) and arashi (storm pattern).
Beginners are encouraged to attend, dying silk lengths.
