Trees of Hope

Saturday, April 4, 2009
10am - 12noon

Community Art School Studio Classroom - Arnold P. Rosen Family Education Wing

For ages 5 - 10

Facilitator: Dr. Gayle Marie Weitz's ART 3021 Students

Students will view Charlie Brouwer's work and then create their own artwork dealing with trees, ladders, and hope. Few acts imply more faith in the future than planting a tree. In this workshop students will look at some fantastic trees from around the world and within the realm of imagination, while reflecting upon their own personal hope for the future. Then they will climb the ladder of creativity to a land where giant redwoods take on global warming, or an orchard of armored apple trees prepares to battle world hunger, or a troupe of eucalyptus care for endangered koalas.

This workshop will end with the planting of a real tree at the TCVA and sharing our trees of hope.

This event is presented as part of the Workshops for Kids program.

Cost:

$10 for TCVA members

$20 for non-members
