The word "Batik" means "wax written" and describes an ancient art form that has been handed down over the centuries in Asia, India, and Africa. It is a great craft to learn because so much of its charm comes from its spontaneity and from happy accidents. We will experiment with beginning batik methods using hot wax and fabric dyes or paints to create bold, beautiful designs. It is recommended that potential students research patterns, designs, and figures they may be interested in adapting to this art form prior to class. No experience is necessary.
There is a minimum enrollment of ten (10) and a maximum enrollment of fifteen (15).
