The Turchin Center is pleased to announce new volunteer opportunities! Join our Team!

You can now join a dedicated group of people who take great pride in helping the TCVA fulfill its mission. Volunteers play a very important role to the Turchin Center and as a community goodwill ambassador.  Download and fill out the application form below to officially apply for your opportunity to play an active role in your community! Volunteer Job Descriptions 

Visitor Services Volunteers

These volunteers will serve as a contact for guests to the facility, on-campus and outside users and donors of the center. These volunteers are responsible for orienting guests to the building and current exhibitions/programs, handling incoming phone calls, coordinating retail and art sales, operating the cash register, answering general questions, and assisting Director of Visitor & Donor Services with additional projects as needed. 

Special Events Volunteers

These volunteers will assist the Director of Visitor & Donor Services with special events such as lectures, receptions and workshops. Volunteers in this position may be asked to greet, inform and direct guests at special events, assist in setting up and/or breaking down for receptions, sign-in students at workshops, assist in planning of special events/receptions, and/or serve food or beverages at events. 

Outreach Volunteers

Outreach volunteers will serve the center to assist in educational and outreach programs organized by  the Outreach Coordinator. Volunteers may serve as greeters for children and adults attending workshops in TCVA, assisting with parking and check-in for participants taking workshops, assistant workshop leaders among other areas.  Volunteers may also choose to work in Outreach Programs located at the Turchin Center or in locations within the community (ie Hospitality House and Mountain Cares Adult Residential Facility).  Volunteers will have the opportunity to work with children and/or adults of all ages and abilities.  

Docents

Docents for the Turchin Center for the Arts are facilitators and interpreters who offer visitors insight to the center’s exhibitions. Tours are made available by request for school groups, families, individuals and community members. Most tours will range anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours and will occur during regular gallery hours. In addition, there are many opportunities for special tours after hours. Docents must be flexible, interested in working with people of all ages, groups and backgrounds and will enthusiastic about learning and teaching. Individuals will be paired with ages and groups of particular interest. An individual who wishes to become a docent should be prepared to make a longer-term commitment as this volunteer position will require research time which may be carried out on-site or off-site in addition to some off-site presentations as needed.
